How Painful Is Tooth Extraction?

Posted on 9/19/2022 by Joseph Kabaklian DDS
How Painful Is Tooth Extraction? There comes a time when we must extract a tooth. This may be necessary because the tooth is impacted or because it has sustained damage that can only be repaired through extraction. Because the dentist will keep you comfortable by using sedative techniques and anaesthetic, tooth extraction is not at all painful. Do not be afraid to visit the dentist because the process will be painless and safe.

Closing the Gap Left by the Extracted Tooth

The dentist must fill the space left by the extracted tooth afterward. If numerous teeth were extracted or the area was an impacted area, the area is sewn up. The area is covered with gauze, and the dentist will instruct you to bite the region to stop the bleeding.

How to Care for the Extracted Area

A clot forms at the site during the recovery process, and if you smoke, spit, or rinse forcefully, you could dislodge the clot and prolong the painful healing process. Recovery processes can last up to three days. After this treatment, make sure you only eat things like yogurt and soup. As soon as the extraction site has fully healed, avoid it when brushing and flossing. Therefore, there is no need to be afraid of seeing the dentist to have a tooth taken because tooth extractions are not unpleasant. The teeth that are keeping you up at night can be removed by our dental experts, who are ready to provide you with excellent treatment.

Call or visit our clinic to talk to one of our trained dentists to learn more about taking care of the extracted area and getting proper oral care. Our dentists are well equipped and they will advise you on the ways of taking care of the left gap after extraction of a tooth.
