Gum disease is a complication of dementia that affects people with Alzheimer's. You may forget routine oral hygiene tasks like brushing and flossing your teeth if you have dementia. Plaque and tartar will accumulate between your teeth if you neglect oral hygiene practices like brushing and flossing, which will cause gum disease. The gum tissue that surrounds the teeth is destroyed by plaque and tartar, and if you have gum disease, you run the risk of losing your teeth. Due to their greater prevalence of dementia, the elderly are more prone to gum disease.
