Bad breath, or halitosis, is more common than you might think, and there are plenty of ways to get rid of it naturally with home remedies or by seeing your dentist regularly. But first, it is essential to know what causes bad breath even before thinking of ways to get rid of bad breath. These things include:

Dry Mouth

When you do not drink enough water, and your mouth dries out, bacteria can build up along your gums and teeth. It is normal to have some plaque buildup in your mouth, but when it becomes excessive, bacteria can break down sugars in foods you eat. This results in bad breath that smells awful.

Poor Oral Hygiene

The most common cause of bad breath is poor oral hygiene. As you eat, you trap particles between your teeth and gums. Bacteria break down these particles and produce a foul odor. If you brush after every meal, floss daily, and visit your dentist regularly, you can minimize halitosis by cleaning off any debris between your teeth. Consider using a tongue scraper to remove bacteria from your tongue too. You can also freshen up with a mint or mouthwash to prevent bad breath.
