Types of Teeth Stains (And How They Can Be Prevented)Having discolored teeth is among the major oral health problems. You can treat and prevent teeth discoloration .Teeth can darken and form spots over a period of time and it can be because of some reason.

Age can cause the enamel of your teeth to wear away and so the teeth will change into yellow since the dentin is exposed. The extrinsic factors that affect the surface of the teeth can cause the teeth to stain. The intrinsic factors re those within the teeth and can cause the teeth to stain. The color of the stain may vary when black see the dentist immediately since they show that thee is dental disease . The black color can also show there is tartar that satins the teeth. Brown color is because of plaque and the building up of plaque over sometime causes stains on the teeth and can cause tooth decay.. The purple stains are as a result of wine , regular drinkers will have purple stains on the teeth. Yellow stains are associated with chewing of tobacco , medication ,simple sugars and staining beverages such as soda. When you have white spots on your teeth this is because of excess flouride , a cavity becomes darker and more advanced.

What causes stains


Whatever we consume is responsible for discoloration of the teeth. The color changes when the foods and beverages stay on the surface of the teeth. The foods that can cause stains to teeth are coffee, fruits like blue and black berries, red wine, sauces, sodas and tea.

Poor dental hygiene


If you fail to brush and floss your teeth as required then you will make the teeth to discolor and form stains. Ensure that you form a habit of flossing and brushing twice a day to maintain dental hygiene. The dentist will educate you more on how to avoid stains
