5 Reasons Why Dental Implants Have Become the Gold Standard in Replacing Teeth

1.  It’s important to replace missing teeth!
It’s important to replace missing teeth because if you have missing teeth it can create a food trap and cause the other teeth to decay around the missing space. Getting a dental implant will fill this space and prevent food from getting trapped in that space.

It’s also important to replace missing teeth because when you lose a tooth, you chew with the rest of your teeth and now the pressure is dispersed among the remaining teeth. This can cause the remaining teeth to chip and crack a lot quicker than before.

Teeth will also shift and move into spaces if you are missing a tooth. This can mess up your bite and cause TMJ issues all because your teeth have shifted.
2.  Why dental Implants are better than dental bridges in replacing teeth.
Before dental implants dentists used to replace 1 or two missing teeth with dental bridges. Now it is better to replace with dental implants because dental implants don’t require you to shave the tooth in front and behind the empty space. This means that at least 2 teeth would be shaved down to support the dental bridge. With dental implants you don’t need to touch the adjacent teeth.
3.  Why dental implants are better than partial dentures to replace multiple teeth.
When people get partial dentures, the partial denture will hold on to existing teeth to stabilize it causing lots of pressure on the existing teeth. This can wear down those teeth and eventually cause patients to lose those teeth. Dental implants do not clasp on existing teeth. To replace multiple missing teeth you can place multiple dental implants and leave the existing teeth alone.
4.  Why dental implants are better than complete dentures to replace all the teeth.
Complete dentures are usually a nightmare for patients. They cause sore spots, they move in the mouth, and you have to take them out and brush them at night. Dental implants are a great option to create a fixed option so the denture doesn’t move around in the mouth and cause these problems. Also dental implants stay in the mouth so you don’t have to take them out at night.
5.  Dental implants are predictable.
Dentists have been placing dental implants for over 30 years. The technology is getting better and better. Dental implants have a higher success rate than a root canal and crown. Dental implants are a great long term procedure for patients that have lost teeth.
