How to Improve your Dental Hygiene Routine

Posted on 10/24/2022 by Joseph Kabaklian DDS
How to Improve your Dental Hygiene RoutineGood oral hygiene is very important for healthy teeth and gums. This means having a good oral hygiene routine that includes regular brushing and flossing of your teeth. In addition, you should visit our experienced team of dentists on a regular basis for dental exams and other services. Here are some of the ways you can improve your oral hygiene routine.

Brush your teeth a minimum of two times each day

Make use of fluoride toothpaste and a toothbrush that does not have hard bristles. As you brush your teeth, you should aim to angle the brush at 45 degrees to your gums. Doing so will help brush away plaque effectively from the surface of your teeth and the gum line. Remember to brush all the surfaces of your teeth.

Floss daily

You will not be able to reach in between your teeth by brushing alone. To ensure that these hard-to-reach areas are clean, you need to use dental floss. If you experience issues using traditional dental floss, you can use dental picks or interproximal brushes to clean in between your teeth.

Brush your tongue

Your tongue is very good at retaining bacteria. When you brush your teeth ensure that you brush your tongue as well to clear food particles and bacteria. You can use your toothbrush to do this or you can switch to a tongue scraper which is also effective.

Visit a dentist regularly

Regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings by our competent team go a long way in improving your dental hygiene. If you are especially vulnerable to oral health complications, you may need to schedule more appointments.

Keep in mind that the most effective oral routine is the one you adhere to consistently. Reach out to us about a personalized dental hygiene regimen that meets your needs.
